Investigație arheometrică a amforelor colchice din perioada elenistică de la Pichvnari (vestul Georgiei)

Articolul prezintă o primă analiză arheometrică extinsă (macroscopică și petrografică) a amforelor colchice din perioada elenistică, din „argilă brună”, descoperite la Pichvnari, unul dintre cele mai reprezentative situri pentru studiul acestui tip de containere de transport. Materialul constă din 44 de amfore și 3 probe de nisip, prelevate în scop comparativ din împrejurimile sitului. Analiza macroscopică a rupturilor proaspete și a secțiunilor subțiri petrografice se plasează în contextul lucrărilor anterioare efectuate de alți autori. Materialul de la Pichvnari dezvăluie diverse rețete de țesături care corespund în mare măsură grupurilor de țesături deja determinate. Cu toate acestea, spre deosebire de lucrările anterioare, studiul reușește, de asemenea, să arate profilurile compoziționale ale grupurilor de țesături într-un detaliu mai mare și, prin urmare, presupune posibilitatea unor variații minore ale țesăturilor, legate în cele din urmă de producții subregionale. Comparația mineralogică cu probele de nisip ne permite să presupunem cu atenție că materialul de revenire își are originea în mediul sedimentar riveran și/sau costier din zona din jurul sitului Pichvnari. Cu toate acestea, din cauza lipsei unei colectări mai extinse și sistematice de mostre de materii prime din regiunea de interes, problema provenienței exacte a amforelor „din argilă brună” Pichvnari rămâne deschisă.
