The archival documents contain interesting information about the owners, lessees, entrepreneurs and donors of Orhei, among those were representatives of such famous noble families as Hanjerli, Grave, Skopovsky, Erdeli, Zhivkovich, Yanushevich, Dolivo-Dobrovolsky, Dulsky. Initially, the district town was located on the land of Euphrosyne Grave, Elena Popova and Maria Zhivkovich. In 1896, the aide-de-camp Ilya Zhivkovich became the attorney of the owners of the town of Orhei. In 1904, his daughter Elena leased the city of Orhei to the nobleman Leon Skopovsky. The lessee of this city was also the nobleman Nikolai Mandro. In 1906, the Orhei district leader of the nobility Bronislav Yanushevich became an honorary citizen. Orhei was considered as a Jewish town, so it is not surprising that in 1910 the Jews Shlema Gurevich and Froim Pagis opened the first city cinema. In 1911, John Pits from Great Britain, acting as an attorney for his wife Elena Zhivkovich Pits, decided to install a water supply system in Orhei. And in 1913, the city illusion theater was opened by the Jewish entrepreneur Shlema Tomasin. By 1914, the construction of the Orhei Catholic Church in the neo-Gothic style was completed, the founder of which was considered to be the noble family Dolivo-Dobrovolski. Thus, all these owners, lessees and donors made a worthy contribution to the socio-economic and cultural development of Orhei.
