With the decline of realism and the rise of modernism, opera underwent a complex evolution shaped by socio-cultural transformations and technological progress, which redefined the entire artistic spectrum. Modernism and avant-garde movements revolutionized the aesthetic norms of operatic art, paving the way for new techniques and themes. Postmodernism radically altered perspectives on the operatic stage, challenging cultural norms and transforming it into a space for experimentation and pluralism. The impact of technology and digital innovations reshaped both the form and content of this art, creating new modes of expression. At the same time, digital technologies democratized access to opera and facilitated cultural interconnectedness. This analysis explores the socio-cultural evolution of opera, beginning with modernism and continuing through contemporary digital innovations.
